The Asylum Rights Programme of the Welsh Refugee Council in collaboration with BAWSO, WASSAG, Women Connect First, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association UK and Vine Community Church will be joining the rest of world to commemorate International Women’s Day on Thursday, March 08th, 2018.  The details of the event are:

Woman to Woman

Vine Community Church Hall, 6 Maria Street, Butetown, Cardiff, CF10 5HE

Thursday, March 08th, 2018

1pm – 3pm

To join the event click on our Eventbrite link  here

The event will showcase women from diverse communities in Cardiff, sharing their stories and experiences of overcoming, achievements and successes to inspire each other and highlight what the women; many of whom have had to overcome great challenges up to this point, are achieving in their life in Cardiff and beyond. All during a community lunch of friendship and togetherness.

Participants will have an opportunity to develop a virtual tree of successes and achievements by pinning their activities and achievements to the tree to represent what their journeys of resilience look like. A vox pop style of congratulatory messages will be recorded by the women to take the event to a wider audience online.

All women are invited and young children age 6 and under are welcome to attend. This free community lunch will be provided the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association UK and the venue provided for free by Vine Community Church in Butetown Cardiff.

About the Asylum Rights Programme

The Asylum Rights Programme is a partnership of seven Welsh organisations. It aims to promote and ensure the rights of people seeking asylum and living in Wales in three ways:

  • Ensuring that people seeking asylum know their rights and have support, where and when needed, to claim them.
  • Ensuring that professionals working with people seeking asylum understand the needs of the people they are supporting, as well as their role in contributing to a Wales where rights are enjoyed.
  • Informing and influencing public understanding about the right to asylum and the benefits of welcoming people in need to Wales.
